While they may not hold up to the abuse of all mountain shredding, if your rough and tumble riding is in the urban jungle, then Éclat’s new AK Pedals should give you a little extra mileage.

Designed with input from BMX pro Alex Kennedy, they’ve got curb-and-stair-rail grindable nylon/fiberglass bodies with platforms that can be switched from right to left. So, once you’ve ground down the outside edges a little too much, just unbolt them and switch left to right (and vice versa) and you’ll get a fresh edge to grind upon.

Inside is a guaranteed-for-life heat treated 4140 Chromoly axle, separated from the body by two bushings per pedal. Weight is 613g per pair. Steel threaded pins let you adjust the height and can also be replaced. Video and inside look below, plus an update with pricing and details

The pedals from the German BMX company are build to take some abuse. Since the bodies are completely symmetric, you can just flip them around. Once the outside is chewed up, just pull it of the spindle with the one allen key bolt, flip it and slide it back on the same steel axle with the worn part facing in. When both sides are worn buy a new pedal body one at a time from Éclat and good as new. The pedals sell for just $60/68€ for the set, and a single (one side) replacement body will set you back just $12/14€ a piece, including a new set of bushings.

Revolutionary. What will they think of next; interchangeable feet? Left/right interchangeable shoes?
