Like the idea of lightweight silicone foam grips but got big mitts? Wolf Tooth Components has your back, er, hands with their new Fat Paw large diameter grips. Designed by WTC, they’re made in the USA by Red Monkey Sports, which has been producing extruded silicone grips for years.

The difference here is not just the thickness, though. Fat Paws use a dual density foam, putting a firmer layer on the inside and softer, tackier layer on the outside. This should provide great cushioning and support while drastically reducing vibrations. The wall thickness is 9.5mm, giving them an installed diameter of 36mm. Compare that to the 30mm diameter of Red Monkey’s Karv grips.

We’re guessing the intended users are those with big hands or ultra-distance mountain bikers that don’t like finishing with numbness in their palms, but they’d also be great for commuter bikes. Claimed weight is 110g, and they retail for $23.95. Available now online through both Wolf Tooth and Red Monkey, they’re launching in black only. More colors should come soon, and they should hit retail stores later in April.

Or they can replace the neon pink ones or your skipping rope.

Finally, something a bit bigger than ESI Super Chunky for my silly-big mitts!

A buck more than the ESI Extra Chunky and 2mm larger installed, for those curious. Also taking the “thickest grips available” title from the ESI’s. I may have to check these out; my ESI’s are about due for replacing.

By far the best grips I’ve used. Been using these for the past two years, and now they have a chunky one for my monkey hands. Can’t wait.

I have been running Red Monkey Sports grips for about 18 months. First I started with the Kärv’s (loved them) and then went to the Klämpz when they came out (loved them even more). Klämpz extra vibration dampening worked best for me because of the longer endurance rides I do. My mitts are not the largest, so the new Fat Paws might not be for me, but as for the products that come from Red Monkey Sports I can say they are topshelf, durable, comfortable, light and Made in the USA!! No other grips will ever be on my bikes…

I have been running grips from Redmonkey for the past 2 years. I have tried and enjoyed every grip and width they come out with. I still have yet to be anything, but AMAZED. wider grip means more comfort. The durability of these silicone grips is very amazing. Other silicone grips I had tried prior always fell apart when I crashed. I can always count on durability and comfort with ant grips made from Redmonkey. Go get some!!!!
