There was a point that the bikes from Civia Cycles were some of the most well equipped city bikes you could buy. Built with wooden accents, stylish colors, and plenty of utility, they were great bikes, but perhaps a little too expensive for their own good.  Now Civia is taking that same style, but building it into a new model. One that still focuses on bikes that are comfortable, practical, and stylish, but with a much different pricing structure that is more about getting people on bikes and less about high dollar builds. Designed around their new, more casual geometry, the bikes are built to be upright and comfortable for short rides around town.

With affordable bikes like the Lowry in their arsenal, QBP dealers will have an even better selection of city bikes for the upcoming season…

While component spec and build materials have been chosen to get the price down as low as possible, the Lowry still looks like a quality product at the $4-500 price point. Aluminum 6061 frames utilize a continuous radius top tube – which is actually the same tube used for the men’s and women’s frame, just flipped upside down to make more of a step through design.

Offered in 5 sizes, Civia is selling the XS and SM frame sizes with 26″ wheels and tires instead of the 700 x 38c tire package found on the larger bikes. This will keep the geometry as close as possible and prevent toe overlap on the smaller bikes. Tire clearance is capped at 1.5″ w/fender, 1.75″ max for the 26″ bikes, and 38mm w/fender, 42mm max for the 700c models.

There will also be two different drivetrain options with the $399 single speed, or $469 1 x 7. The geared model includes a Shimano trigger shifter, Acera rear derailleur and a 14-34t freewheel. Dual pivot long reach road caliper brakes provide the stopping, and the rest of the components are nicely finished for the price.

Introduced as the first new model of the relaunch, the Lowry will be followed up by the next bike which is already in development. That bike promises to be ideal for a different rider who is going longer and faster than the Lowry rider. At the moment, any QBP dealer will be able to order Lowrys when they are available in April/Late spring.
