What do you get when you cross the BMC Speedfox 29 with 650b wheels and longer travel? That would be the new Speedfox Trailcrew. Built to be a more aggressive, Enduro worthy version of the platform, the Trailcrew will be offered in two models with a carbon/aluminum frame or full aluminum frame. Whether you’re planning to hit the bike park, or just looking for a more playful version of the popular Trailfox, the Trailcrew will lead you in the right direction…

Available in the carbon/aluminum Trailcrew 02 or the full aluminum Trailcrew 03, both bicycles make use of the BMC APS Advanced Pivot System suspension design. Equipped with either a Cane Creek DB Inline or Fox Float Performance Series, the Trailcrew offers 150mm of front and rear travel with a RockShox Pike up front.

Frame features include removable ISCG mounts for chain guides or bash guards, a 142 x 12mm trear thru axle, complete internal cable management system for the 02, and 650b specific geometry that is slacker and uses shorter chainstays with more BB drop for a snappier ride that will rail through berms.

The Speedfox Trailcrew will be sold in five sizes from XS-XL, and pricing will start at $3899 for the Shimano SLX equipped SF03 Trailcrew. The SRAM X01 1×11 SF02 Trailcrew will run $5899. Both bikes will be available later this summer.

I really don’t understand why they would put the direct mount on the swing arm. Seems like if would make the front mech work like garbage. More sprung weight too.

Doesn’t look have as good as my ’15 trance advanced 2 either. So much for swiss design.

don’t you mean “unsprung”? and while there’s a difference, it’s negligible. also, this derailleur position ensures a constant angle between the chain and the derailleur, regardless of the travel used, making it work better, actually

This! Very neat solution actually. The Ibis Ripley also has the FD mounted to the swing arm. And while it technically adds unsprung weight, it’s so close to the pivot point that the weight has very little leverage.

And by the way, it does look a lot better than the 2015 Trance Advanced 2.

I’ve found other sites listing it as 20 mm BB drop??! That can’t be right.

+1 for the better looks than the Trance Advanced 2. How many people are going to leave this bike a 2x setup? I get the guys in the mountains will like the lower gear but even they are running 1x with all the 42t adapters or X1 systems.

These 2x/3x holdouts are causing bike manufacturers to make compromised designs to allow for the front derailleur. Chan stays are longer than they need to be, pivot placement is not ideal, and those running 1x will have that ugly front mount messing with the looks of their bike (not that I would call this bike pretty anyway). The front derailleur needs to die so we can all have better bikes.
