As spring nears and we are dreaming of snow melting from trails we just got word from Bionicon that they are now delivering the new 2015 Edison EVO, which we tested last fall, to the first customers. In a pleasant update of giving consumers what they want, Bionicon tells us that they were getting some feedback that the neon orange and yellow paint schemes were too loud and so made a running decision to offer a low-key Raw frameset as an option. The raw frames are sanded and clear coated to protect the frames and get very minimal branding. If you are interested in a less more subdued finish, the Raw bikes will be available with the next production batch in May.

Bioinicon also announced a new lower cost option for buyers making advanced purchases, and some new suspension options. Hop past the break for more details and a couple more pics…

So the discount called PAY LESS Program 2015 offers a 10% off their for those willing to put a down payment on the bike 12 weeks ahead of delivery. They are seeing a big uptake in demand, and in order to keep customers happy they are offering a discount for those willing to wait. This helps them gauge interest and better schedule production, while making sure to stay open with customers about realistic delivery timing. That especially sounds good if you are interested in the Raw frame which already has a lead time, so put €500 down up front and you will get 10% off when they arrive in May as scheduled. More info on their PAY LESS page.

As for the suspension options, Bionicon announced a new low-friction hard-wearing black coating, dubbed Blackline, will be available on their exclusive X-Fusion Vector HLR rear shock and X-Fusion Metric forks. Both suspension components have been Bionicon developed internals and are custom tuned for the EVO. Bionicon has been building its own suspension components with this low-friction coating for over 10 years and is happy to bring it to their co-developed suspension components. Both new Blackline components will be available from April exclusively to Bionicon.

Lastly, Bionicon wanted to remind us that the Edison EVO is also available without their linked suspension which we loved testing it in the Alps last year. A NBS (non-Bionicon-system) EVO is available with their standard X01 build, plus a Rock Shox Pike RC and Monarch RC3 for €3150, a savings of €350 vs. the same bike with their pneumatically-linked suspension system.

What’s up with the rear shock on the red model? Never seen anything like that.
