Alpina 2015 Enduro

Alpina has some new helmets ready for Eurobike, including an enduro helmet in kids sizes, a full face helmet with a detachable chin guard, and an update to the road helmet worn by the White Jersey winner at this year’s Tour de France.

Alpina is fully latched onto the enduro wagon train, with the release of three new helmets specifically for the discipline: the Carapax Junior, the Garbanzo, and the King Carapax. Details on all three after the jump…

Alpina CARAPAX JUNIOR w light

The new Carapax Junior appears to be a downsized version of their existing Carapax line of mountain bike helmets. The helmet has a deep profile to provide additional protection, good ventilation with bug screens, and an adjustable visor. An optional blinky light pops in the rear. While there have been any number of times we would have been happy to have had a better indication of where the kids disappeared down the trail, keeping the light attached when the helmet inevitably gets tossed or crashed, or simply pried loose by someone trying to look cool, might be a challenge.

Alpina GARBANZO all-mountain enduro helmet

The new Garbanzo helmet is designed for “all-mountain enduro” just in case you are between bandwagons. With only images to work with, it looks like it has fewer features: no bug screen, no adjustment on the lid, and a simpler fit adjustment than the Carapax, so presumably is a lower priced option.

ALPINA KING CARAPAX DH Helmet

The new King Carapax looks to be a great option for big mountain riders who want full face protection for the descents, but still want to be able to breath on the climbs. The rendering shows the detachable chin protection, a feature that used to be more common, but is now limited to the MEC Parachute and Casco Viper MX. It will be interesting to see how well the chin piece packs for uphill riding, but definitely seems preferable to having a second XC helmet strapped to your back while charging – or crashing – downhill.

Alpina ELEXXION RC road helmet

Road bikers can look forward to a new edition of the Elexxion RC. Pictured in Team Francaise Des Jeux colors, this is the lid that Thibout Pinot wore in his brilliant ride at this year’s Tour de France.

No other specifics are available, but keep an eye here and on the Alpina website during Eurobike.
