bikerumor pic of the day gophers surly bike

Photo submitted by Mike Oakes, “The bike may be of interest to readers. It’s a new Surly Straggler that, along with the awesome mechanics at my LBS ‘The Hub Bike Coop, I converted to a single speed and tweaked out. The bike has cool stuff: Hope SS hubs mounted to super strong Velocity Blunt rims, SRAM Rival 180 mm cranks, Nitto flat bars with Avid brake levers, SKS fenders, Tubus Evo rack for Ortlieb Downtowner briefcase bag. As a professor (of Public Health) I ride all over campus with this bomber rig. Thought it’d be fun to show off. The statue is of our university mascot, Goldie the Gopher :)”

We always love to see your photos and would like to show them to the world here on the Pic Of The Day. Send in your photo with a brief description here.

Surly has a blog post specifically discussing how it is possible to mount racks and fenders together on a Straggler, they never claim that you can’t.

This is the greatest ever user-submitted photo ever! I love it! Fantastic! It looks like the gopher is about the right size for that bike too!
