After the introduction of SRAM Red and Force 22 drivetrains, it should come as no surprise that Triathletes are also looking for a drivetrain with more speeds. More speeds mean closer ratios, which can mean finding that perfect gear when you’re halfway through your Ironman. As the next step in SRAM’s tri bike evolution, three new 11 speed shifters have been developed to give aerobar users the the most up to date drive trains.

To go along with the Force and Red 22 drivetrains, SRAM has introduced three new TT bar end shifters starting with the lower end Aero SL-500s. Available in both 10 and 11 speed, the aluminum shifters weigh in at 147g per pair and retail for $119. If you prefer the return to center style of the R2C shifters, SRAM will have two new 11 speed options with the SL-1150 and SL-1190. The main difference between the two is the material used, with the 1150s getting aluminum blades and steel hardware while the 1190s get upgraded to carbon levers and ti hardware. The 1190s are lighter at 173 compared to the 190g 1150s. Both are a bit heavier than the SL-1150 thanks to the R2C mechanism.

Triathletes and time trialists will also have the option for new aluminum 11 speed aero chainrings. Based on a 130 BCD, the 42/55 chainrings are compatible with SRAM’s 22 group and will retail for $25 for the 42t ring, and $140 for the 55t.

Not exactly a tri part unless it is a particularly hilly course, SRAM is introducing two new WiFli versions of their Red cassettes with an 11-30t and 11-32t option.

Available this July, each cassette clocks in under 200 grams with Red level shifting and performance.

Finally, Zipp has a new BTA (Between the Arms) hydration and computer mounting system to finish off your Zipp cockpit. The 6061T6 aluminum cradle mounts to any aero bars and offers a Garmin compatible computer mount that puts the head unit where you can actually see it and use the bottle cage. The mount is perfect for the new Vuka BTA UD carbon bottle cage which is designed to limit bottle launches. The cage comes in at 28g for $75, and the Zipp Vuka BTA mount with Quickview retails for $65 and weighs 104g.

Hey bikerumor, thank you sincerely for not making yet another “[xyz company] goes to 11” joke. Thanks.

What are the chances that these shifters will work with the xx1/x01 1×11 mountain derailleur? I want to run 1×11 on my 29er drop bar setup. I’m looking for shifters that could mount to some woodchipper bars.

chances are 0%. cassette spacing for sram (and shimano) 11 speed road stuff is different than sram (and now shimano’s) 11 speed mountain stuff. ive looked into it.

a less easily answered question is, will these be compatible with CX1?

at first I read “chainring bottle mounts”

Yes, these will work with CX1.

There is no CX1 specific shifter other than a normal force shifter on the right & a dummy lever on the left. Any shifter that works on a SRAM road rear derailleur should work with the CX1 derailleur.

These will not work with the XX1 or X01 11 speed rear derailleur. The cable pull is different.

However the X01 rear derailleur also comes in a 10speed option which is the same cable pull as road 10 and and 11 speed. You can use these with SRAM 11 speed road/tt shifters to shift on an 11 speed 11-32 or 11-36 cassette.

What are the chances that these would work as bar end shifters for a commuter or touring setup?

Do you know if the Sram Aero R2C 11spd shifters are Shimano 11spd compatible?
