Panaracer Fat bike Tire 275 650b moto pacenti (4)

The first performance tire I ever purchased for my mountain bike in the 90’s was a Panaracer Fire XC Pro. A lot has changed since then, but the Fire Pro tread refuses to go away, which is probably a good thing since many people still run and love that tread pattern. To stay current with the times, Panaracer has a new tubeless compatible Fire 29er Pro, and Fire 650b Pro to carry on the legacy, both in a 2.35″ width. There is also the new Comet Hard Pack tire for 27.5″ bikes in multiple sizes with tightly spaced lugs that looks like a cross between an Ikon and a Small Block 8. Panaracer has shown that for the future they are committed to 27.5″, 29, touring, gravel, and fatbikes?

Sitting on display at their booth with no information, Panaracer seems to have decided to enter the fatbike market with a 26 x 4.0 tire of their own. Built with what we would consider a medium, all purpose tread pattern, the tire illustrates that most tire manufacturers feel they can’t stay out of the fat bike market for long. Which is good news for fat bike fans, more competition should mean lower prices for one of the most expensive fat bike specific components. No more details other than it was there (most of the time, it seemed to disappear every so often). Look for more details on this in the future.

Known for their touring tires, Panaracer is getting into the gravel/street market for 27.5″ with their new Pacenti designed Pari-Moto. Offered in a 66 TPI or 126 TPI gravel tire, the 27.5 x 1.5″ Pari-Moto looks similar to the company’s Gravel King and uses the same anti-flat casing. Claimed weight is somewhere around 280-300g.

Seeing that last tire reminds me of a name i haven’t given much thought to recently. But Kirk Pacenti was a driving force early on for the 27.5 mtb size. Look at things now, the majority of riders now are just *followers. Mr Pacenti, you are a visionary.

*(except the riders that were rolling the pacenti mtb rubber back in the day)

The Pari-Moto has been around for several years. Aside from new sidewall graphics, what is there anything new about this version?

Panaracer have taken over from KP on the tyre stuff. I don’t think there’s been any changes as of yet but apparently “late summer” there will be proper tubeless casing versions of the Neo-Moto and Quasi-Moto.

Nothing new about the Pacenti Pari-Moto. Rivendell used to carry it but has replaced it with the (also Panaracer-made) Soma Xpress 650B x 38 (what that size was called before they came up with the “27.5” thing). The road tires of that size have been around for close to a century, so calling it a “27.5 Slick” is totally backwards. The only thing new about any of it is knobbies.

I just checked and the Pari-Moto has been around for four years. Here’s Velo-Orange’s blog post about it. http://velo-orange.blogspot.com/2010/05/pacenti-pari-moto-tires.html

I try not to get worked up about bike parts, especially something like tires, but…*ahem* NO FIRE XC PRO 2.35 IN 26″!?!? GOOOOOOOOOOOSH DARNIT! I’ve been wanting this tire in a 2.2 or a 2.3 since I first tried the tire 5 years ago! /rant

Kevan, Hank, thought I had seen somewhere that the Pari-Moto got better puncture protection, but might be confusing something.

the new Pari-moto version has a flat resistant layer added. The original version was very prone to flats. Hopefully it will retain most of the nice supple ride.
