The pass is unfortunately named after the Stevens family (Governer Isaac prominent among them), so it’s Stevens Pass, not Steven’s.

Actually, it’s named after John Frank Stevens, the engineer that brought the great northern railway over the otherwise unused pass. He was also chief engineer of the Panama Canal for several years.

Isaac Stevens was governor of the Washington Territory (long before it achieved statehood). He has no relation to John Stevens.

Other than that, the ride indicated above is a great one. There’s also a great new mtb park at the Stevens Pass Ski area that just finished its second season.

A few brave souls had the intestinal fortitude to do the Courage Classic route in one day instead of splitting it into three days like a normal cyclist.
