Nisnas has shown us some pretty amazing wood fenders before. And some gorgeous leather messenger bags and accessories. Now, they’ve combined the two classic materials with their new bike bags.

The Kul Rex handmade wood and leather bike bag, 23cm high by 34 cm across, fits most frames size 56 and larger, $339.00. For smaller bikes, see the Kul Porter below…

Zippers and pockets help keep all accessories organized.

The mahogany racing stripe is inlaid in the pine wood spine. Other options, all shown on their website, include a city skyline. The Kul Porter runs from $219 to $259.

What is the point of the wood exactly? Does it rattle on the seat tube?

this would screw up your frame’s finish, and appears to be incompatible with a water bottle mount

Yossi here from Nisnas Industries,
Good question, well, we wanted the hardwood to act as a protective cover for the bag and also allow it some stability when placing it by your side as you take it off and ride the subway or bus. Its also a fun way for us to customize designs into it.

same point as leather, it is a fashion statement more than a functional choice of material, for those who can’t have things not match their leather grips and brooks saddle

I would simply like to point out to anyone that thinks this bag is in good taste and admires the thought and consideration put in by the design, to take a cursory glance at the handlebar tape.

I originally thought: “how do you keep the bag from interfering with your legs.” Then I saw the wood spine and the seat tube attachment and thought: “that’s how.”

The strap that goes around the seat tube looks too high on the bag. Does it swing? It seems like that strap should be a few inches lower, and have an integrated pad to keep it from hitting the frame/swinging.

I like the bar tape on that bike, it’s funky. Nice looking bag, not for me because England is too wet and I need to carry more things, but it looks great.

You put your water bottles in the bag.

So its just like a messenger bag except that doesn’t carry as much, you can only use it with horizontal top-tube type bike (no compact frames or step-thrus). Why bother?

Hey Merc,
Yossi from Nisnas:

Well, that’s exactly why it comes in 2 sizes. the smaller Porter will fit just about any frame. Both bags can be used as messenger or shoulder bags or as a frame bag ,its up to you. We also have a bigger version that is a straightforward messenger bag called the Kul Supreme.
