2014 Boardman AiR-TTE triathlon race bike

After a little teaser, the Boardman AiR/TTE triathlon bike made its debut in Kona this week.

The new top-level tri rig boasts a more rounded shape that’s reminiscent of its predecessor but completely reworked using F1-inspired design and CFD analysis. Those tools included the latest laser body scanning with their pro athletes on the bike and combining that with the computational fluid dynamics data to improve aerodynamics by a claimed 20% or more. The result is a bike that hides just about everything from the wind: brakes, cables, wires…even the nuts and bolts.

Despite all the stealth mounting and placements, they say it has a massively useful range of adjustments, and the entire bike can be tuned with just two sizes of allen wrenches.

We’re working on more details about the design process and getting some more pics. Updates as we get them.

They’ve been working on this bike for three years, but you’ll have to wait just a tad longer for pricing and availability – those won’t be announced until November 7th, but here are the spec lists for the two complete bikes and frameset:

Yep, looks fast. I’d ride it. However, I feel like tri bikes are to the point where we might as well let triathletes race recumbents with full on fairings.

All that work engineers are doing (hiding brakes/cables/bolts, CFD, laser body scanners…lasers!!!) to just go a hair faster and it still won’t be as fast as a dude with a big plastic bubble around him. Just seems like a waste.

I wouldn’t care if it was 20% less aero than a cinder block, its so pretty I would still love to have one!

they should probably focus their attention on aero gel packs and bento boxes since thats what every tri dork slaps onto the top tube of their shiv

So what does this all mean in watts at 40kmh with a rider attached?

Oh no, it doesn’t have disk brakes!
Don’t they they are the future?
Aerodynamics be damned!

tri dorks keep rim brakes, all they do is pee on their bikes anyways

Couldn’t help but notice a similar integrated stem as the 2013 Look 675 and embedded front fork brake calipers as th Look 695 Aerolight.

@harro: that’s exactly why I am such a fan of that new Speed Concept
