While not quite as overnight as the current fatbike trend, new road disc bikes are still popping up on a regular basis. Even though it was absent from Interbike, Olympia just launched their entry into road discs with the all new Leader Disc introduced at Expobici Padua. Awarded the 2013 Expobici Innovation award, the bike features a number of asymmetric design features to counter the forces involved with disc brakes.
The frame also incorporates aerodynamics into the design to create an aerodynamically efficient bike specifically designed for hydraulic disc brakes. Utilizing a tapered 1.5-1.125 head tube along with a asymmetric fork the Leader offers steering precision even under hard braking. The bottom bracket uses a bb386 shell and more asymmetric frame bits to put down the power but keep the brake in check.
The monocoque frame is produced from a blend of Toray carbon and offered in S-XL sizes with a SRAM Red/ Force and full SRAM red hydro build.
