Congratulations to Canada’s own Stevie Smith on his 3-peat win in the Men’s Pro division and Emmeline Ragot taking the Gold in the Women’s Pro division on a burly Canadian Open DH Course….and of course the infamous Hecklers Rock Action! A great wrap up to Crankworx Whistler 2013. Next year’s Dates – August 8-17, 2014!

Last weeks Crankworx festival featured amazing racing, prototypes, spy shots, and  new launches, but sadly, the fun had to come to an end. Miss something or just want to relive a moment? Check past the break for all the highlights!

Jill Kintner grabs her 4 peat while Mitch Ropelato’s streak is upset by Les 2 Alpes Pumptrack Challenge, presented by Rockshox champ, Adrien Loron.

Wet conditions did not slow down Graeme Mudd (AUS), who took home the top spot in the GIANT Dual Slalom Pro Men’s final in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Steady rain showers fell throughout the ladders, making for a wet, sloppy course, but that didn’t bother Mudd who beat out Connor Fearon (AUS) in the final. Ryan Hunt (AUS) rounded out the all Australian podium taking the bronze with a win over Fab Cousinie (FRA) in the small final.

Here are the highlights for the Teva Best Trick Showdown that took place on Thursday, August 15, 2013. While everyone was anticipating jaw-dropping action, no one was prepared when California’s Mike Montgomery threw down the first backflip bar-hop to tailwhip ever landed on a bike. France’s Yannick Granieri came in second with a backflip double tailwhip, which also happens to be the same trick he threw to win the Teva Best Trick at Crankworx Les 2 Alpes in July. Newcomer Nicholi Rogatkin, who is coming in hot after winning the Pro Dirt category at the BMX Worlds 2013 in Germany, took third place with a lawn dart frontflip which he threw right out of the gate on his very first run.

Steve Smith clinched the win in the Fox Air DH, plummeting down A-Line’s 1,200 vertical feet with a time of 4:12.08. Smith was the last rider of the day Wednesday and bumped Australia’s Mick Hannah out of first place, inching himself ahead of the field by one second and 77 one-hundredths of a second.

Crankworx Whistler’s Garbanzo Downhill course is infamous for being one of the longest and most challenging descents in the world of bike racing. Columbian Marcelo Gutierrez Villegas proved his strength and speed today on the grueling 7km track which drops over 3,400 vertical feet into the Whistler Valley. Gutierrez Villegas claimed the win on the men’s side with a personal best time of 12:28.24. The second fastest man was Sam Blenkinsop(NZ) +7.43 and in third, Remi Gauvin(CAN) +20.47.

Round 5 of the Enduro World Series went off in Whistler and the Whistler Mountain Bike Park as the ultimate test of bike handlnig skils, fitness and mental toughness. Australia’s Jared Graves won his first round of the EWS while French legend Anne Caroline Chausson had her own maiden victory of the series.

The Dual Speed & Style, the first event webcast from Crankworx Whistler, saw Sweden’s Martin Soderstrom take his momentum from a win at the GT Dual Speed & Style at Crankworx Les 2 Alpes last month and put it to good use today to take gold in Whistler as well. He edged out Cam Zink (USA) in the finals while Kyle Strait (USA) beat out Tom Van Steenbergen (CAD) in the small final to take third. The tricks were impressive and it seems that Soderstrom played his cards right with strategy and speed.
