As the final piece of the Borealis Yampa puzzle, their carbon fatbike fork is here. The fork will also be available aftermarket allowing anyone with a tapered fatbike the chance to upgrade. After releasing their 15mm thru axle, 135mm spaced hubs recently it was obvious a fork was on the way since there aren’t compatible forks that are out yet. The Borealis FF1 doesn’t disappoint as it is full carbon, tapered, thru axle, and light.

Stick a fork in it after the break.

As a full carbon, one piece fork you would expect the FF1 (which stands for Fat Fork 1) to be light. You would be correct – at 575g uncut, this is the lightest fatbike fork out there, at least to our knowledge. The 15mm thru axle adds another 94 grams, but even then it is still lighter than the competition. The thru axle is custom designed for the FF1 and features an easy twist and clamp design and is included with every fork.

We’ve mentioned it before, but the fork utilizes front specific post mount disc tabs and has a 468mm axle to crown. Used with Borealis’ 193g FH1 front hub no adapters are needed for a light, hassle free setup. Forks will retail for $449 with the front hub only offered for $149 – which is good news if your fatbike has a tapered steerer, but the rear end isn’t 190mm. Instead of the matte finish pictured, production forks will be glossy and should be available in a month.

Looks like they are using the same supplier as Salsa.
