2014 Manitou Dorado 650B dual crown downhill mountain bike fork

The inverse-stanchioned Manitou Dorado has been one of the few legitimate downhill forks that could be run with a 650B wheel from the get go (like on the new Intense 951 EVO), but smart riders knew you needed to limit the travel a bit or otherwise fidget with the crown placements (or both) to avoid whapping the tire on the lower crown during full compression. Now they’ve made a 650B/27.5″ specific version that keeps the full 208mm travel with no compromises.

To do that, the stanchions at the lower clamp mount have an increased and revised clamping area that sits a bit higher than the 26″ version. The taper on the rest of the stanchions is designed around this, so weight and overall size remains virtually the same.

Need DH-worthy hoops to go with it? Check the new Sun-Ringle ADD 650B below…

We saw these at Sea Otter, too, but here are more photos and the official spec sheet.

While DH riders seem to be the last in line to fully embrace tubeless tires, these are ready to go with Stan’s NoTubes licensed rims. Their yellow tape comes preinstalled, and if they’re like the rest of Sun-Ringle’s wheels, they’ll even come with two single-serve bottles of sealant.

i would LOVE to look at 26 vs 650b times for a few of the top elite racers doing UCI dh courses – put some actual data down instead of hype

the only? 650b UCI rider i know of from this season is Noel Niederberger from the Scott team and he’s a junior racer
