ENVE DH 650B carbon fiber downhill mountain bike rims and wheels

ENVE’s rounded out their mountain bike lineup with the new DH 650B rims. They use the same World Cup winning UD molded carbon fiber construction as the 26″ version and have a 30mm outside / 21mm inside width. Depth is the same as the other DH rims at 31mm. Weight is 540g.

For roadies, there’s the new Classics 25 and a new clincher version of the SES (Smart ENVE System) 7.8 deep aero wheelset…

The DH rim’s burly bead hook and sidewalls come wrapped with a standard (wide) rim strip. They recommend Gorilla Tape for tubeless applications.

The Smart ENVE System aero wheels also complete their lineup with the addition of a clincher version for the deepest 8.9. The front rim measures at 85mm deep, the rear at 95mm.  Weights are 610g and 620g respectively, which is 110g and 75g heavier than the tubulars. A complete wheelset built with DT Swiss 180 hubs is 1,692g.

ENVE Classics 25 road bike wheelset

The Classics line was reintroduced in February with 25, 45 and 65mm depths, with tubulars for all and clinchers only for the deeper two. Now, they’ve wrapped up that line with the new Classics 25 Clinchers.

Part of the deal with the Classics menti0n earlier this year was their partnership with DT Swiss to build them on 350s, which gets the wheelset price down to about $2,000. Of course, you can always upgrade to 180s or 240s for a lighter build…like a 1,001g tubular set.

been waiting for the classic 25s clincher. didn’t want aero style for cyclocross, and didn’t want the cost and more intensive process of mounting and switching tubular tires. great addition.

would be interested in 25 clincher actual weight. thanks

These wheels are gorgeous looking. The quality of their rims appears to be top notch. I just can’t stomach the cost. Yikes!

WTF, 21mm internal width for a DH application? Love Enve but thats just dumb.

Also the 18mm wide XC rim is WAY too narrow for me to ever consider.

AND COME OUT WITH A MOUNTAIN BIKE FORK ALREADY. THANKS.

Mullet has a point. I haven’t ridden Enve’s but I just switched back to Arch EX’s and the width of that rim creates an amazing footprint. 18mm is just to narrow for me to consider that kind of $$$
