Blaze Cycles Mountain Bike Lugged Steel

Blaze Bicycles divvied up their talent this year across a full line of bikes, from mountain, to classic road, to single speed, to ‘cross.

From Moab Utah, Blaze’s showstopper bike was a sweet 29’er with some plasma cut lugs. The tubeset is a true temper ox platinum steel. They’re considering making this bike a production model. Built as is with SRAM x9 gruppo, it’ll retail at $3750. Add $500 for those fancy lugs.

More Blaze cycles after the jump, and a monster 29’er tandem build by Ampeirce…

Ampeirce

Ampeirce mountain tandem

As soon as we walked onto the show floor, Ampeirce’s monster mountain tandem was hulking over the new builder’s isle. Top and lateral tubes are double butted and ovalized. The curving of these tubes shows some serious craftmanship. All other tubing is straight gauge. The titanium seatpost is by Kent Eriksen and Ampeirce crafted the rest of the cockpit in-house.

Components are Deore XT and it gets a bombproof Rohloff hub in the rear.

Ampierce mountain tandem trussed fork

The fork’s designed to be interchangeable with a Maverick dual crown fork in case you and your partner want some suspension. The wheelset is a Pentetti 325 that’s tubeless friendly and Ampeirce had it sitting on some Surly Knard tires, the ones that come standard on the Krampus.

The rear stem is hand-made by Ampeirce for this build. Total weight ended up at 42lb 5 ounces, pretty respectable for such a large bike.

The Ampeirce tandem is a work of art.
Great stance and proportion.

“…said the fiery lugs were inspired by the spirit of Utah.”

What did he say the lumpy welds were inspired by?

the head angle on the 29er looks to be a tad steep. great craftsmanship all around though.
