bikerumor pic of the day chris bell

Photo submitted by Luke Bradley, “Chris Bell is the one in the air in the photo. He and along with 3 others was killed whilst mountain climbing this past weekend. He was a dear friend and a big part of the XC race scene in Scotland. Another of the victims, Tom Chesters, was also a keen rider and a guide for a holiday company in the French Alps. Their friends have decided some good must come out of this and we’re trying to raise money for the mountain rescue team that recovered them. It so happens that this weekend four of his friends are racing as two pairs in a 24 hour mountain bike event called the Strathpuffer and are trying to use the opportunity to raise money. We’ve set up a Just Giving page here.”

Luke, good luck for the Puffer. I’ve many fond memories of uni with Chris; that picture is exactly him – annoyingly talented!

Thanks so much for putting this up BR. The cycling industry has been phenomenally generous in the wake of this- they are an excellent bunch of people.

How about a link to an article about what happened?

Aaron- http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-21101217 There was an avalanche.

Colin- you knew him longer than I did; I hope you and Kerry have been able to comfort each other over the last week. Chris will be very sadly missed.
