Prototype Fizik handlebar stem and seatpost tested on AG2R-La Mondiale professional cycling team bikes

Fi’zi:k is teasing new handlebars and stems, showing parts on AG2R-La Mondiale team bikes.

The handlebars and stems are being tested in a variety of shapes and sizes during the 2013 race season with a consumer launch planned for the fall. The Italian brand has had saddles for almost two decades and launched seatposts and shoes in the last few years. Add in their wide assortment of bar tape and the new bars and stems could have you touching Fi’zi:k components at all points of contact.

PRESS RELEASE: fi’zi:k are pleased to announce that team AG2R-LA MONDIALE will be debuting the brand new range of fi’zi:k handlebars, stems and seatposts in 2013.

The new fi’zi:k cockpit is set to revolutionise the cycling market in the same way fi’zi:k saddles have done since their launch in 1996 – utilising the brand’s expertise in ergonomics, we’re taking performance to a new level.

AG2R-LA MONDIALE will be testing the new cockpit system in the world’s most demanding races, supplying the type of feedback that has been the mainstay of the development of fi’zi:k’s exceptional products to date. Racing is the backbone of the company, and this final development phase will precede the official product launch. Throughout the season the riders will test the different stems and handlebar shapes in a multitude of sizes and material combinations in order to match all their needs, but full details will not
be announced until later in the year.

AG2R-LA MONDIALE will also be using fi’zi:k saddles, handlebar tape and seatposts to complete the full fi’zi:k cockpit experience. AG2R-LA MONDIALE Manager Vincent Lavenu is thrilled with the partnership: “fi’zi:k is the most popular brand of saddle amongst the World Tour peloton, it’s an innovative brand which is always pushing the boundaries of technology. The stems and handlebars are a new adventure for both of us though. After the first kilometers on the new equipment all the riders were very happy, we have had daily contact with fi’zi:k to provide them with further feedback and development suggestions so I’m confident that we will have a great season together.”

Gabriele Benedetti, fi’zi:k Global Sport Marketing Manager said “The cockpit is a big venture for fi’zi:k. As we have traditionally done with saddle development, the team will act as our live test lab – no other testing can simulate the wear on products that occurs at this level in professional training and racing. Team AG2R-LA MONDIALE and Focus bikes are the perfect partners with whom to start this project. We are really looking forward to being part of this team, to share with the riders and staff the passion, desire, dreams, and also the glory of racing.”

Note the "Bull" moniker on the handlebar, suggesting the components will offer different shapes to accommodate differing flexibility among riders. Their saddles use the same scheme. This one has a 420mm width, 80mm reach, 130mm drop and slight flare to provide better wrist clearance when in the drops.
