Grafton Speed Controller Canti’s. I wonder which came first, these or the Paul’s Stoplight canti’s?

Grafton canti! Tomac had those on his Raleigh Titanium/Carbon bike with the Tioga Disk Drive rear wheel in the 90’s. Blast from the past!

Of course Grafton. Worst (and prohibitive) brake I ever riden. Great break power just for 2 rides, then you had to readjust. Racing DH WC at Kaprun/Austria in early 90s friends heard me braking three miles away 😉 scary fast!

2. comment:
These are rebuilt Graftons. Originals did have a rectangular brake pad holder. Easier maintenance shown on the picture above. I rebuilt mine with first gen XTR replaceable brake pads.

I think Chris 68 is right. I was thinking Grafton’s but knew something wasn’t quite right with the pad post holder. When are you gonna post some Gravity Research brakes? Those were the best of that era / type.

Grafton brakes. I had a set….fantastic brakes (but you have to be able to wrench on your own bike, not for newbies). Loved mine and still have a shirt.

Chris 68-You are right and wrong, yes original version came with the L bracket but they would later be available exclusively in this configuration.

Miami-Grafton was the first with IRD to follow. Paul didn’t come right away, but hey…he’s the only one left 🙂

Technically, WTB was making their own brakes CNC style long before anyone.

This is the original version of the Grafton Speed controllers that showed up in 1988. It used shimano XT brake block mounting hardware. The “L”-bracket version came later, 1990 or 1991.

Curve Brakes! So 1994, and so good when combined with their straddle and a DKG Gorilla Brake Booster…
