Interbike 2012: Ergon hit the road with saddle, comfy seatpost

Bicycle ergonomics specialists Ergon were on hand at Interbike with their first road-oriented offerings: the SR3 saddle and CF3 seatpost.  The SR3 saddle uses a similar design to their mountain saddles, tweaked for road riding, and will be available in 3 sizes, two rail materials, and two colors next spring.  More intriguing is the company’s comfort-oriented seatpost.  It’s only coming in a 330×27.2mm size for now, but make your voice heard if you’d like something else.  Pass the break to see the slick post and angle adjustment.

The CF3's action is intuitive, flexing rearward as the rider hits bumps.
Angle adjustment comes from sliding the post's halves past one another. That does require a bolt lower on the post (inside the frame), but it is pretty slick looking.

It’s the Canyon post rebadged for Ergon. Not too surprising given their common ties.

Well Ergon supports Canyon in XC, so maybe there was some deal between them. Canyon won’t sell much seatposts aftermarket but Ergon might.

I don’t know why this hasn’t been mentioned yet, but the Canyon and Ergon guys are siblings.

Did you guys know that the owners of Canyon and Ergonomic are related?

I heard it was more like the Canyon guy is the Ergon guy’s brother from another mother.

How about an off-road seatpost???

Right now, post only in one size: 27.2 at 330mm length. Weight is sub-200 grams. Other sizes are in the works: 31.6, 30.9, etc.

Stock clamp will fit round railed saddles only. Monolink will come in the future, as well as clamps for oval rails, etc.

Yes, Canyon owner and Ergon owner are brothers. This seatpost was designed by Ergon, it has been a 6 year process. Canyon launched it last year, available on some of their road bikes. Ergon Intl. will bring it to the masses under the Ergon name.

The CF3 seatpost is road specific. Off-road use is not advised at this time, per the designers at Ergon who work to develop this post.

I agree. I want…I need…an offroad approved version! More sizes! I hate paying big bucks for carbon seatposts that are just a seatpost. This thing would justify the price. It would be amazing for cross too. The tilt clamp design means it would be very unlikely to slip with mounts/dismounts.
