2013 Pivot Cycles Mach 429 carbon full suspension mountain bike with new frame geometry

Thanks to an anonymous tipster, we found these “leaks” of Pivot’s completely redesigned new Mach429 29er full suspension mountain bike. Word is it has revised geometry and a tighter rear end for snappier handling. As luck would have it, we’re at DealerCamp all week and spotted their tent in the expo, so look for more soon. What we can see is that it’s spotting DT Swiss wheels, Kenda tires and SRAM’s new XX1 1×11 group!

UPDATE: Yep, it’s an all new model, and it’s already on Pivot’s website with a whopping seven build kit options, including the XX1 shown here. The carbon fiber frame uses their hollow box, high-compression internal molding technology, which yields smooth internal walls (no stress risers) with solid compaction (stronger frame with less weight). Features and specs include:

  • New geometry and a revised dw-link® suspension design
  • 100mm rear travel with 100-125mm travel fork compatibility
  • 142×12 rear axle
  • 160mm post mount dropouts
  • Under top tube internal shift cable routing with clean brake and dropper seat post routing.
  • Rubberized leather chainstay, inner seat stay, and down tube protectors
  • Tapered 1.5” headtube
  • PF92 bottom bracket
  • Direct mount front derailleur
  • ISCG 05 (chainguide) mounts

And did we mention hardtails? Yes, yes we did, and we just added more info below

Another model with a slightly different build kit.

2013 Pivot Cycles carbon 29er hardtail mountain bike

The new Les (as in “less is more”) 29er hardtails are made for days when you just don’t need all the travel, like racing. It’ll use the same Hollow Box construction with some built in compliance. Rear end is 142×12 with swappable adjustable dropouts so it can be run as a singlespeed. Shift cables are fully internal with an access port under the PF92 bottom bracket. Other features include a tapered headtube and direct mount front derailleur.

Stay tuned for more on both bikes…

Uhm.. nice scoop, but are you not missing that it’s not a redesign of a 429 carbon, but that the fact that it’s carbon is also new?

This is the one – The Pivot-Les is the bike I’ve been waiting for a MFG to finally come out with. Can it get better than a 12×142 thru axle, oversized head tube, sub 2.5 lbs Single Speedable Carbon Frame! I never thought anyone would pull this off, but Pivot came through! So Awesome! Sooo Awesome! See Ya later Trek Superfly SS…. ur getting replaced with a Pivot-Les! (sorry)…

Anyone notice how much the chain is sagging in the first pic on the XX1 groupo? What is going on there?

That green bike looks like a Salsa Spearfish replacement.

it looks as much like a spearfish as it does a watermelon if the color is any qualifier.

answer for; dover, irv and peter. The bike hasnt being completley assembled chain not cut to correct length etc

answer for GrandesRoues; although many brands have made a long legged 29’r its genrally overkill with the bigger wheels especially 140mm+ travel. 120 29’r is an absolute shredder. but take it from someone who has ridden both! a 100mm 29’r is such a better overall bike than a 140!
