2013 Kona Major Jake cyclocross bike

Until now, all we’ve really seen of Kona’s 2013 lineup is the chromoly Rove disc cyclocross/touring bike. Today, Kona sent out a teaser of their top three ‘cross bikes and three hardtail mountain bikes.

Above, the Major Jake remains their top of the line cyclocross race bike. Unless they’ve got something up their sleeves, it looks like the disc brake versions will remain at the mid-level. No word yet on what’s changing other than the usual spec updates on this one. Click on through for more, and other teasers are promised throughout the week with the full launch on August 5th.

2013 Kona Jake the Snake cyclocross bike

The 2013 Jake the Snake gets tapered chainstays, which they say gives it a stiffer, more responsive ride.

2013 Kona Jake disc brake cyclocross bike

The Jake gets Hayes’ new V-series mechanical disc brakes and a new rear triangle on the Race Lite 7005 series alloy frame. The redesign makes the seatstays more compliant and the chainstays stouter.

2013 Kona King Kahuna mountain bike

No news on frame changes for the King Kahuna, but you can check our review of the 142×12 equipped carbon hardtail 29er racer here.

For fans of smaller wheels, the Kula is a 26″ race Scandium hardtail. More as we get it…

Aluminium fork on the Jake…No disc options and only RS10 wheels on Jake the Snake….would be better to pick up a “current model” on clearance.
Disappointing alongside the competitors
