Introducing the Radarlock. Oakley’s latest addition to their growing Switchlock line up joins the likes of the Jawbone, Split Jacket and Fast Jacket. Switchlock technology not only allows the user to change their lenses very quickly and easily, but it also prevents any bending of the lens which would distort the optics of the lens. Not only that, but the security of the Switchlock system still allows for the lenses to hold up to Oakley’s ANSI Z87.1 based impact testing.

The Radarlocks will be available in both Pitch and Path lens shapes, with a custom program at Oakley.com coming soon. Each pair of the Radarlocks will include two lenses along with the Oakley Soft Vault case, as well as two sizes of interchangeable nose pads , and the Oakley Microclear bag for $220 retail.

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., May 1, 2012 – Oakley, Inc. today announced the release of RadarLock™, a revolutionary new performance sunglass. Optimized with Oakley Switchlock™ Technology, RadarLock makes the process of lens changing fast and easy so athletes can take advantage of the company’s wide array of premium lens tints.

“RadarLock is a game changer that defines our relentless pursuit of innovation,” said Oakley CEO Colin Baden. “This breakthrough product is the ultimate application of Oakley frame and lens superiority. It features a radically new and ingeniously simple system for changing lenses, and it lets athletes lock in the best lens tint to maximize vision and lock out the competition. RadarLock takes the idea of ‘adapt and conquer’ to the extreme.”

Oakley Switchlock Technology makes lens changing fast, easy and hassle-free. A simple switch mechanism releases the mounted lens so a new one can be locked in instantly. Athletes can adapt their vision for any environment and keep up with changing light by quickly switching to the lens tint that provides the best combination of filtering, color balance and visual contrast. Oakley has engineered a wide range of premium performance lenses for RadarLock, and all are optimized with the unrivaled clarity and impact protection of High Definition Optics® (HDO®).

Baden continued, “Oakley’s approach to performance innovation is simple: If it’s not good enough for the world’s best athletes, it’s not good enough. Conventional technology makes the process of lens changing cumbersome and time consuming. World-class athletes deserve better, so we started from scratch to completely reinvent the concept. With its Switchlock Technology and other industry-leading innovations, RadarLock is essential sports gear and the ultimate sports performance product.”

Until Switchlock Technology was invented, no mounting system held interchangeable lenses as securely in place without causing subtle bending. Even with non-prescription lenses, the slightest bend can alter optical properties and cause visual distortion. With Oakley’s innovative system, lenses are held so securely that the lens/frame combination meets the rigorous impact standard based on ANSI Z87.1 test methods, and there is no lens bending that could compromise optical clarity or fidelity.

The eyewear frame is composed of durable, lightweight O Matter® and features the all-day comfort of a Three-Point Fit that holds the optics in precise alignment. Unobtainium® components increase grip with perspiration, and multiple interchangeable nose pads provide a secure, customizable fit.

Numerous athletes will rely on Oakley RadarLock performance eyewear in their pursuit of gold at the London Olympics, including Bryan Clay, Oscar Pistorius, Mark Cavendish, Lolo Jones, Javier Gomez, Cadel Evans, Kerri Walsh, and many others. The new Oakley design is expected to play a major role in competitions ranging from Cycling to Track & Field, Rowing, Shooting, Tennis, Canoe/Kayak, and Beach Volleyball.

“The world’s greatest athletes put their trust and faith in Oakley technologies for the performances of their lives, and RadarLock defines how we answer their uncompromising demands by taking performance beyond the limits of possibility and the bounds of reason,” Baden concluded.

RadarLock will be available at select Oakley Stores on April 28th. The worldwide release is scheduled for May 1st.

I love my Radar’s and these look very nice also but it’s a shame that they’ve dumped the Range lens shape. The Pitch and Path lens are too small for bigger faces and let too much wind and dust in. Hopefully Oakley will wise up and add the Range lens to the Radar Lock family.

Do these use the same lenses as the Radar frames? I don’t see separate Radarlock lenses listed on their site currently. Very interested, since swapping lenses is always a messy affair, leaving greasy fingerprints all over.
