What started off with a ti Yeti 575 customization has become a full blown titanium upgrade option from French framebuilder Ronnie Calvet and his company, Skyde.

Shown here is the latest version mated to an Engine Labs 120mm rear end, which is an updated version of the NRS design used on older Giant mountain bikes. The new front end replaces the alloy triangle with cold worked, double butted 3/2.5 titanium. All machined parts are 6/4 ti, and it’s made to exactly imitate the geometry and even the look of the original in this case.

Cable mounts are very svelte, remaining unobtrusive if not in use, and the curve of the tubes is quite pretty. We saw more of their bikes at Roc d’Azur and have become pretty enamored with his bikes.

This customer wanted PressFit BB30 and direct mount front derailleur tabs. He can do any type of bottom bracket you want.

Price will vary based on what suspension design he’s working around, but they’ll start around €3,300 (w/ VAT). No, it’s not cheap. But if you’ve got a bike you love that just needs some new life breathed into it, it’s an option.

The seat tube relief saves weight and adds style points.

His next project? A full suspension 29er tandem with a Niner rear end!

Slick looking frame! Kinda cool to see a modern full suspension Ti bike like this…I dare say it looks better than a Moots.

I’m thinking a Ti Enduro would be pretty sweet.

I know it is a custom frame and all, but the customer’s choice looks quite odd to me. It reminds me of a chick that’s pretty cute from the waist up, but from the waist down…she gotta-big-o-ass.

Nothing against the framebuilder. He’s just making a living. Kudos.

Why not just go full custom? Why recreate another bike in Ti?

Holding a frame in a vise with unprotected jaws?!!!!
Little things demonstrate his work methods…I’ll pass

I have to agree with JoeKing. First thing I noticed was that it was in the vice without any protection.

Hahah! After reading your comment, I can’t help but look at the rear “big-o-ass” triangle.

This looks like a good way to produce a mainframe that is flexier than your stock main triangle. Both carbon & alu are typically structurally stiffer at equivalent weights… and it’s nice for your full-suspension frame to be STIFF so the suspension can do what it’s supposed to without your wheels tracking in different planes. However, this frame looks OK if you want to be *unique* and boutique.
