DT Swiss rolled put several new wheels and hubs for road and mountain.

The RRC road wheel line gets new Dicut hubs with sharp machined edges at the spoke bed. The changes are more than cosmetic, though. They use entirely new nail head spokes that rest inside the flange and keep the aero spoke profile facing straight forward. An alloy cap threads on to cover them, and the bearing sit just inboard of them, making it easy to replace a spoke. The rear hub has a taller driveside flange and flanges were moved a couple millimeters out to give it a wider platform for a laterally stiffer wheel. They’re available in 32,46 and 66mm depths in tubular and clincher. The rim is a new carbon to prevent any past delamination issues. The new carbon layup on the brake track dissipates heat better now.

Detail pics and weights, plus the hubs and mountain bike stuff, after the break…

Note the “nail head” shape of the spoke inside the hub shell and the groove it rests in. The outside of the flange is machined into a prism like pattern that’s pretty sharp.

They come in at:
600g/750g clincher 32
470g/620g tubular 33
640g/790g clincher 46
530g/680g tubular 46
735g/880g clincher 66
635g/780g tubular 66

The new FX 1950 freeride wheelset replaces the 2050 DH platform for aftermarket, so it’ll be available with every axle option (except 9mm QR front), including a 150 rear to handle downhill applications. It gets their standard Tricon features like direct pull spokes with a one-piece hubshell running 240 internals. It’ll come with the 18 tooth ratchet but an be upgraded to their 36 tooth piece. The bit that makes it freeride ready is the tubeless ready 30mm wide rim (23mm internal width). Claimed weight is 2000g for the pair in it’s lightest axle layout. Available October.

XM 1550 is a 29er wheel built on the same base as their top end Tricon wheels with a 3-piece, 240 based hubset and a 26mm wide rim (19.6mm internal width). 1800g claimed weight. It’ll be available in 135×10, 135×12 and 142×12 rear axles and 9mm QR and 15mm thru axle in the front. Available now.

Sidebar: The carbon tubular wheels we saw at Sea Otter are now shipping.

The new 180 hubs replace the 190. Number refers to weight, and these drop 10g by getting a new carbon fiber center section with alloy flanges bonded on. They’re rolling on ceramic bearings.

The road 180’s tip the scales at 183g with a Shimano/SRAM freehub and 190g for Campy. Front hub is 100g.

The MTB 180’s weigh in at 207g and 107g. QR9 only in the front (for now…) and QR and 135×10 (for use with their RWS skewers), which indicates they’re aimed purely at the XC crowd.

Another Sidebar: New rims get waterslide decals that are much smoother and thinner than traditional stickers.

Is DT still getting their CF rims from Reynolds? It looks like it.

The DT carbon road rims look like Reynolds. Same looking breaking surface, same depths and looks like a Reynolds swirl lip generator near the spoke bed.
