Mr. Boardman is no slouch when it comes to time trailing.  The man is fast, and he wants the bikes that bear his name to be fast as well.  With the goal of trying to defy the laws of physics, Boardman Bikes designed their new elite series AiR/TT time trail and triathlon bicycles.  These things look slippery and it would seem they have the design to back that up.  Each of the four bikes in the new lineup run the same frame, with the parts build being the main differentiator.

The frame highlights include:

  • Full high modulus monocoque construction
  • CFD and wind tunnel developed aerodynamic tubing
  • Internal front brake within the fork structure
  • Rear brake mounted on the underside behind the BB
  • Full internal cable routing
  • Full carbon fork with tapered steerer tube
  • Reversible seat post to accommodate both TT and triathlon riding positions

The headliner here is the Air/TT 9.8.  The complete build nets you a set of Zipp wheels (1080 front / Sub 9 Disc rear), Sram Red drive train with a FSA Carbon Trimax BB30 crank, a FSA cockpit, and it comes in at 17.5 lbs.  You will have to be ok spending  £6,999.99 for the complete bike, or start with a frameset for  £1,599.99.

Next in line is the AiR/TT 9.4.  Here you will still find Sram Red along with the Sram Red BB30 crankset, Boardman house brand 100mm carbon tubulars, and a FSA cockpit.  This speed machine clocks in at 18.2 lbs and will deplete £3,999.99 from your back account.

One more rung down the latter we have the AiR/TT 9.2.  The complete build is running Sram Force gearing with a Sram Force BB30 crank, a Mavic Cosmic Elite wheelset , as well as a FSA cockpit.  It tips the scale at 19.2 lbs, and runs  £2,699.99.

Bringing up the rear we have the AiR/TT 9.0.  Rival is the drive train of choice here, and a FSA gossamer Pro BB30 crank is replacing Sram’s offering.  Mavic Aksium wheels are specced, along with a FSA cockpit.  This version of the AiR/TT is the heaviest at 19.9 lbs, but is also the cheapest at £1,999.99
