The folks at Rolf Prima know how to get muddy come ‘cross season.  With their 2012 cyclocross wheel lineup, they are going to make sure you have the hoops to do the same.  The newest editions include the budget friendly ECX (pictured above) and a disc version of their VCX wheel with 135mm rear hub spacing.

The ECX is a budget friendly do-it-all wheel that comes in either tubular or clincher options.  The tubular version has a 30mm deep rim that is 22mm wide and comes in at a claimed weight of 1625 grams.  The clincher offers up a 31mm deep rim that is 20mm wide and weighs a claimed 1680 grams.  This hand built wheel offers carbon like mud shedding at a much lower cost.  Either option runs $599.  Expect a full review of the ECX tubular this summer.

The VCX is described by Rolf as being the mud brother to their Vigor road wheel.  It is built up using a more robust wall thickness to withstand the rigors of cyclocross.  The VCX comes in both a tubular and clincher version, with a disc option for both that uses a 135mm rear hub spacing.

The VCX is using the same rim profile as the ECX, but comes in much lighter.  The non-disc clincher is 1525 grams, and the tubular tips the scales at 1550 grams.  Either set will run you $1049

The disc compatible clincher is a bit more stout and has a claimed weight of 1740 grams, while the tubular version is set at 1690 grams.  And while the hubs will accept a rotor, the rims are also machines so you have the option of running your rim brakes as well.  So go ahead, future proof your wheels now!

If neither of these wheelsets seems to strike your fancy, I bet Rolf Prima still has something for you.  Take a look at their entire cyclocross lineup here.  You will find 58mm and 38mm carbon tubulars, the budget friend ECX, the disc ready VCX, as well as an awesome ENO eccentric hub single speed cross wheel (tubular or clincher).  All Rolf Prima wheels are hand built in Eugene, OR.
