It’s all green ahead for Evan Solida’s Cerevellum Hindsight bicycle computer. We heard rumor he’d received funding, and here’s the confirmation, straight from the source:

“We finally secured full funding from an angel investment group here in Greenville, SC and also backing my Michelin Development.  I’m actually meeting with the electronics developer today to begin work on the PCB design and user-interface.  We’ll have a booth at Interbike this year and products should be arriving in October.

“Obviously, the most important component is going to be the screen.  We found a very unique, albeit pricey, LCD screen that uses the sun to illuminate it during the day.  It displays in color and is very easy to see in bright sunlight.  Also, we’ve also  incorporated digital stabilization for the camera,  which is 2MB and will record video in the event of an accident.

“We will have test units running around towards the end of June and hopefully sign a pro-team to use them next season.”

So, looks like the production version will be getting even better than the last prototype we showed you! Another photo after the break…

how are they going to ge a pro team on these, they dont need to see behind them nor do they say that they are ANT compatible for power meters or other tools.

Maybe the pro team can mount the camera facing forward so they won’t have to look up. Half joke. Half not.

I can see future version of this having the option for both, or split the screen front/back. And yeah, ANT compatibility would make this even more attractive.

Much like pro riders for Chipotle prob don’t fuel up on burritos, nor do all Rabobank riders have an account in the Netherlands… I think it’s safe to assume that they want a team to promote the company name and business plan.

Yeah why would you ever want to see behind you in a two up sprint? And those leadouts, why would the leadout man ever want to see his teammate still has his wheel? Curse you for making things easier.

What about taking a GoPro camera mount it backwards, run some wires up to the handle bars and attach its ‘backpack’ view screen or make an app for your iphone or other smartphone and use wireless or bluetooth it… That said, I’m pretty good at just looking behind my self, the only practical reason I would ever use something like this would be for recording my friends riding behind me, or for traffic documentation.

Where do you get it? I suck at looking behind me when I ride, a always go shaky when I look over my shoulder.
