Alongside their new Conquest Pro carbon disc brake cyclocross bike, Redline showed off completely redesigned frames for their D-series 29er mountain bikes. The DSixEighty (top) and DSixSixty (bottom) get new frames with a stronger, stiffer bottom bracket area, tapered headtube and hydroformed tubes. Prices are $2,899 and $1,999, with only spec differences commanding the difference.

The DSixEighty comes in at 26lbs 8oz, and the DSixSixty at 27lbs 7oz…less than a pound difference. Both get Ritchey cockpit parts, so the main differences are Fox versus Rockshox forks and drivetrain level.

The new hydroformed tubes pull the downtube width all the way to the edges of the bottom bracket shell.

The chainstays are really, really big, too. Combined, these features should make for a pretty stiff lower section.

The dropouts and seatstay bridge are nicely cut; detail not usually seen at this price level.

Upfront, the new models get a tapered headtube to open up fork options and further stiffen things up. Presumably, a frameset will be available, too.
