| Our apologies in advance to the builders, but we’re starting to compile several into a post to make sure we get it all up before too late.
Here we have Herbie Helm’s beautifully lugged steel bikes with custom racks and some nicely integrated mounts, lights and other features.
At left, the headtube on this touring bike had the most intricately and ornately cut lugs of any bike we saw at NAHBS this year, which is saying a lot…and wait until you see the back end of this and his other bike! Click the pic to enlarge.
Jump past the break to see those and Cysco’s wild looking twisted square tubes on a 29er, road bike and track bike, plus Groovy Cycleworks’ head-to-toe custom mountain bike with internally geared hub and bright green paint job…
Groovy’s green bike is for a customer in Holland that wanted a low, aggressive position. They used 650B wheels and full internal cable routing and custom plates to keep cables in place for a Rohloff rear hub. The EBB was made in house, as was the Lov Handle bar and a box section crowned fork. Cranks are their Hot Rod cranks designed by Bill Grove and built in house. House made ti post for a bit of give. $6000-range for a similar bike.
The EBB insert holds the BB, then clamps into position to lock it down.
The cable guide/retainer for the Rohloff hub is removable should the owner ever want to just run it as a singlespeed.
