felt DA aero road bike gets UCI approval for use in sanctioned races worldwide

  • Felt‘s DA race bike has received UCI approval for use in sanctioned races, making it one of the first bikes to get the official thumbs up.
  • esurance.com has posted an article about protecting your bicycle with a lock and renter’s insurance. While we don’t care if you use them or whatever, one of our contributors (*cough* Evan) is pretty glad he had renter’s insurance when someone snipped his lock and stole his road bike off his car’s rack. Now he’s rockin’ a brand new 2011 BH G5 that’s sick.
  • Neil Pryde bikes, which we’ve reviewed quite positively here, has changed their distribution model a bit to hopefully get more bike shops on board. IBDs can now stock a minimal amount of inventory to show customers, then order from the complete option range at full margin. Delivery anywhere in the world is within 10 days.
  • You know that proposed Timberline Ski Area Mountain Bike Park at Mount Hood, OR, we mentioned? Well, the Forest Service is now taking comments on it and they’d love to hear why you want them to build a lift-served freeride trail network and skills park. This is the final comment period before a decision is made. Send your comments or request additional info by emailing Christy Covington here.
  • Bicycling Magazine’s annual buyers guide is out now (April issue) with a crossword puzzle in the back. Complete the puzzle and you can enter to win any bike in the issue valued at $5,000 or less.
  • The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) has just launched a new site with info for commuting by bicycle, related programs and tips for getting around on two wheels. BikeToWorkInfo.org.

More after the break…

  • The National Park Service (NPS) recently announced an Environmental Assessment (EA) for developing a shared-use trail – including opportunities for mountain biking – in Texas’ Big Bend National Park. The plan is now available for public review and comment. The 30-day review and comment period started March 4, and will continue through April 2, 2011. Comment on the plan here.
