Before you comment on our title, yes, we know, all track bikes are single speed. And fixed, at that. Whatever.

Raleigh’s new Macaframa track frame joins the Carbon SSCX and the rest of the growing list (all shown after the break!!!) of limited edition single speed and fixed bicycle frames for track, cyclocross and urban riding.

The Macaframa collaboration (they make cool videos about urban fixed gear riding) uses an Atomic 13 SL butted alloy frame with integrated 1-1/8″ headset headtube, a 27.2 seatpost seat tube with aero shaping and cutout for the rear wheel and standard threaded BB shell. It comes with a carbon (alloy steerer) track fork and is available in 50, 53, 55, 57 and 59cm sizes. Available now in your LBS.

Check the lineage after the break, or click here to see highlights of the 2011 Raleigh lineup…

The 201 Raleigh Hodala is a carbon fiber singlespeed/fixed cyclocross frame. It’s the same frame as the SSCX Carbon below, but painted up for the Hodala Team.

This bad boy is available only through SSCXWC. Details in this post.

This is the 2010 alloy version of the SSCXWC bike. Not sure about current availability.

The 2009 Raleigh Ranier alloy SSCX frameset – no longer in production.

The 2010 Raleigh High Life alloy SSCX frameset – no longer in production.

2011 raleigh rush hour pro alloy track bike frameset

The Rush Hour Pro uses the same alloy and specs as the Macaframa, just slightly different tube shaping, particularly on the seat tube.

Aside from the paint and the branding, the Macaframa/Raleigh frame is IDENTICAL to the Fuji Track 2.0 (formerly the Fuji “Pro”) and the Motobecane Track Team frameset…and probably a couple of others. Look at the seat collar area if you doubt it.

Macaframa (and Raleigh, of course) can do better. I would expect something with more classic lines from such a collaboration.

@Ghost Rider,
You may be right about the seatpost clamps. They do indeed appear to be very similar. If you look closely though, the similarities really do stop there. The Raleigh has hydroformed tubes (tt & dt), where the Fuji and Motobecane look to be straight gauge. Additionally, the Raleigh features different chainstays, finished welds and a different rear dropout. The headtube on the Raleigh is also not the same. It is difficult to tell from photographs if the seatstays are different, but I’d be willing to bet that they are. The welds on the brake bridge (which is not drilled FWIW) are also finished on the Raleigh.

After seeing the frame in person, I’ve got to say I’m impressed and surprised that Raleigh is not doing more to show its quality.
