  • Sign the People for Bikes pledge in February and you’re entered to win that sweet custom Timbuk2 messenger bag shown above. Already signed the pledge? You can use that same link and form to enter to win one of five bags or other PFB schwag.
  • Wanna ride with the latest new pro road cycling team? Join the RealCyclist.com Team next Saturday, February 12, for their “Una Vuelta Con Paco,” a free, recreational ride open to the public. The ride begins at 9:30am in Hancock Park in Dahlonega, Ga.
  • SRAM has just created an official “Aftermarket” position to champion products and concepts for the aftermarket customer (ie. you, me and bike shops) versus the OEM customer (ie. Trek, Orbea, etc.). This doesn’t mean you’ll be able to call them up and ask questions or suggest ideas like we’d hoped, but it does mean they’ll have a team meeting with bike shops and riders to see what can be done to improve their products for those of us who upgrade one component at a time versus buy an entirely new bike. You know, all of us.
  • Trek Travel has announced their 2011 Ride Camps. Their blurb: Trek Travel’s new Ride Camps offer serious cyclists the experience of a lifetime at an exceptional value. These all-inclusive, guided trips feature luxury accommodations and the chance to train in the same locales the pros do. Explore sunny Solvang, California, or the exotic Spanish island of Mallorca on the best bikes Trek has to offer.
  • Didn’t get into the Southern Cross early enough to get one of the custom TwinSix x Krautstache t-shirts? Never fear, they’ve done a second run of shirts with the Krautstache designed logo with their local screenprinter. Available for those who register by February 17. It ain’t the same, but it’s better than nothing, slacker.
  • Downtown Orlando, FL, is set to get an urban mountain bike park, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Using land from a decommissioned naval base, it’ll be just a few blocks off Colonial Drive near downtown. Talk about multi-use development!
  • The Fort Collins Cycling Festival in CO on August 20-21 has just added an Echelon Gran Fondo ride, letting you jump in for some hill climbing and bicycle fun the day before the Quiznos Pro Challenge starts. Combined with the crit and other races during the weekend, the Gran Fondo will offer 30, 60 and 90 mile ride options for the less competitive among us. We might just be there for that one!
  • Trek’s Dirt Series mountain bike clinics for women opened registration for their 2011 events on February 1.
