2011 bontrager XXX Lite Limited Edition road bike shoe for chris horner

Fresh off the photographer’s table, we got the first look at the all-new, superlight Bontrager XXX Lite road bike shoes. Here’s the scoop, directly from Bontrager’s soft goods manager, Tom:

“Here’s a shot of the shoes–the new Race XXX-Lite Limited Edition shoes (above) that’ll start hitting shelves this spring. Chris Horner and the U.S. National Road Champ Ben King will both be racing this shoe this year”

“We’ll also offer a buckled version (in White), which drops the “Limited Edition” moniker and is simply called the Race XXX-Lite. Both shoes follow a XeroZS design philosophy, which is focused on minimal weight and maximum performance. The Limited Edition shoe takes the minimalism to the extreme, dropping the buckle to save weight and using a special super-light upper material. The LE shoe comes in right around 200g (1/2 pair, size 42). I weighed one of the shoes used for this photo and it came in at 204.2g.”

Notice how thin the strap and upper material is, and the design looks like it just wraps a single piece all the way around your foot! More as we get it, and a photo of the white version is all yours after the break…

Hmm…..suspiciously look like the “new Radio Shack shoes” Chris Horner posted a picture of him breaking in on his twitter feed yesterday.

Happened to see these in a local shop, first time I actually found myself desiring a Trek product. And they’re really light.
