OK, so the name (or at least the first half), was one of the worst kept secrets in pro-cycling. Nevertheless, the official unveiling in Luxembourg this evening of the state-sponsored team built around Andy and Fränk Schleck, and confirmation of Trek’s headline sponsor role, was exciting.

Check the video above for some hype from the bike sponsors (and also Specialized’s HTC videos, too) for a taste of the action. This effort from Trek may be predictable (if only because, since Cervélo’s Beyond The Peloton, it seems to be de rigueur to make a series of behind-the-scenes documentaries) but saliva-inducing none the less.

Full team details are here: they make pretty exciting reading.

And, finally, click below for a peek at the kit, which has been receiving a slating on the internet, but which – aside from the depressing blue/black trend predominating in the peloton – is actually fairly tasteful, IMHO. Though shouldn’t it be more like this? Let us know your thoughts…

Semantics aside, I think the team is built around Voigt, Cancellara, and O’Grady. The Schleck boys are great, but the leadership of that team comes from that triumvirate of classy stalwarts. THey would also make a great Paris-Roubaix podium this year…
