High above show goers heads, lurked the next big thing from Turner: a DW link equipped RFX Prototype! While I didn’t have a chance to check out the bike out at Dirt Demo, I couldn’t help but notice the new bike perched high above Turner’s booth inside on a Thule roof rack. Turner has teased us for awhile with the possibility of the new bike, but it looks like this time it is for sure.

Scheduled to be released in Spring 2011, the all mountain, light freeride bike is sure to be a hit if past sales are any indication. The DW Link version of the RFX will boast 6.5 inches of travel, and is substantially more beefy than the 5 Spot with a stronger lower link, 1.5 head tube, and some big gussets.

More on the new RFX after the break!

The prototype shown at Interbike featured a 66 degree head angle with a straight 1.5 inch head tube. Obviously, this allows for a myriad of fork options and the ability to even add an Angleset if your heart so desires.

Out back the new RFX features the more or less standard 142 x 12mm thru axle system mated to a 73mm bottom bracket to offer plenty of stiffness and keep the chain line in check. The RFX will sport a raised chainstay design, keeping the stays out of the way from chain slap, which works out to an effective 17 inch chainstay length. Get the full skinny at Turner Bikes.
