Gargoyles recently released the Striker (above) and Trial sunglasses as part of their Instinct collection of performance sunglasses. Both incorporate the brand’s Mission Series lens tech. From the press release:
The Striker is a streamlined sunglass for riders that prefer a lightweight, minimalistic approach to their sunglasses. Rubber temple pieces, nose pads and pin stop hinges help ensure a solid fit when running or on the bike. The frame is available in matte black with a polarized smoke lens ($110), red with Gargoyle’s smoke lens ($75) or black with Gargoyles’ Signature Green lens ($75).
The Trial offers full protection for riders who are looking for all over coverage. Toric 10×4.5 lenses provide more than ample shielding from all directions. Rubber temple tips and adjustable nose pieces ensure a perfect fit. The frame is available in black or white with Gargoyles’ smoke colored lens, or black with the Signature Green lens. All three retail for $110.
Gargoyles use Ballistic Defense lenses that are stronger than standard polycarbonate, and they’ll stop a .20 caliber bullet from 20 feet, making those rocks that pop up from the rider in front of you seem like mere child’s play.

They have 100% UVA, UVB and UVC light protection, and their UV Tri-Tech guards 100% against UVA, UVB and UVC light, while a scratch-resistant, anti-fog coating offers 30% more protection than conventional lens coatings.

We’ve had a chance to try out some Gargoyles in the past, and both the gray and green lenses are great, and they block the wind really well, which is part of the reason they make their lenses so curved: It leaves less open area around your eyes susceptible to debris or the environment. They’re lightweight and comfortable and worth a look if the style suits you.
