Steve Hunt has designed this great looking bicycle lock which has a cool trick up its sleeve.  When it detects that it’s being tampered with it can instantly send an alert to you smart phone. More info after the break.

It works using a Wi-Fi card, called the “Eye-Fi”, that is more commonly found in digital cameras. You just need to make sure that you park your bike in a Wi-Fi zone so it can do its stuff. That’s the main drawback of this lock at the moment, and it is the reason that the design will stay as a concept until a more reliable alert system has been worked out.

Once this lock is available it could be a great system, so long as you are close to where you parked your bike and are happy to confront a thief.
