Looks like things are starting to shape up for a summer of lightweight carbon-rimmed mountain bike wheelset battles!

Just on the heels of Easton’s new carbon Haven announcement, Syncros has fired a shot across the bow with their FL25 cross-country / marathon wheelset.  Featuring “extremely stiff” 25mm wide monocoque carbon fiber rims, Syncros says they’ll fit all clincher tires and uses a Snap On rim strip.

The rims have 28-hole drillings and are handbuilt with 3-cross laced DT Comp spokes and Syncros FL (Freakin’ Light) hubs with Enduro double row angular contact bearings for lightweight, durability and easy maintenance.  The hubs have standard 6-bolt disc mounts, and the front hub is available with either 9mm QR or 15mm thru-axle.

The carbon rim has a matte finish with Syncros’ grunge graphics.  Retail is $1,899 for the set, and weights are 600g (front, 9mm QR) or 621g (front 15mm) and 747g for the rear.  They also come with signature QR skewers (except the front 15mm).
