Team Katusha stuck out a little bit at the Ronde van Vlaanderen, sporting bright yellow prototype helmet covers from their helmet sponsor, Lazer. The polycarbonate covers were being tested by the riders at Flanders prior to their public launch later this year.

The covers are designed to improve aerodynamics while keeping moisture, dirt, and other debris out of the helmet when the weather takes a turn for the worse, keeping riders’ heads warm and dry. The covers worn by team Katusha are designed specifically for Lazer’s top of the line Helium helmet, and the company says they can be attached and removed with one hand using a snap on design, so no tools or fasteners are required.

The covers being tested by team Katusha were bright yellow and featured special Ronde van Vlaanderen graphics, but Lazer says that production models will initially only be offered in a clear polycarbonate, with a price point somewhere around $20.
