NAHBS 2010Independent Fabrications used their floorspace to showoff not just their frames and features, but also this special one-off Wounded Warrior Project steel Crown Jewel Special Edition road bike that’s being raffled off to raise money for the WWP.  The WWP has formed a new cycling team that’s training for the Road Runner Classic cycling race this April 24 in Albuquerque, NM, where the raffle ends and one lucky person gets this $6,000+ bike plus a custom fit from IF. More info on the raffle here.

IF also had a sweet 13lb version of their Corvid carbon bike with custom 3D carbon lugs in logo-matching crown shapes, plus a track bike collaboration with Phil Wood to celebrate his 40th year of making bike parts…and a nasty looking snow commuter.  Check it all out after the break…

Shiny blue bar tape and white hoods really top off an excellent tribute bike.

The Corvid is Indy Fab’s full carbon bike.  It uses custom-made crown-shaped carbon lugs to really set it apart, and this model went a step further and threw on Zero Gravity brakes and Gates Carbon Belt Drive to get the weight down to about 13lbs.

Normally, the Corvid comes with just a clear coat, which they’ll tint to give it a color sheen, but they went all out with this one.

Screws at the top of the dropout attach the seat stays and allow the break in the frame necessary to insert the belt.

Event the bottom bracket lugs get the royal treatment.  The Corvid is a full custom bike that you order through your local IF dealer, where they’ll measure you and let you pick paint, cable routing, etc.  Frame and fork is $5,500 with the tinted clear coats or a translucent pearl sheen.  Lead time is about 4-6 weeks.

This could be the ultimate crap-weather commuter.  Disc brakes, full fenders, studded tires and a Bailey Bagworks lunch sack up front.  And the bright paint job with reflective decals will help them find you if a snow plow shoves you into a drift.

Logo and other “decals” were done in a puffy reflective paint.

Sliding dropouts allow for weatherproof drivetrains like internal gear hubs or single speed.

In a collaboration with Phil Wood, IF is building 40 of these special edition track frames that’ll get decked out with limited edition components celebrating Phil Wood’s 40th anniversary.

Hubs and gear get XL (Roman numerals for 40) cutouts.

The XS is their ti-lugged carbon-tubed road bike, and this touring bike takes the high end frame and adds the utility of fenders and racks.

This is their Super Commuter dressed up in a very outdoorsman paint scheme.  All it needs now is a gun rack and trailer for hauling home your game.

“And the bright paint job with reflective decals will help them find you if a snow plow shoves you into a drift.”

I am constantly amazed at the strange and unexpected placed that the Myth Of Bicycling As An Extremely Dangerous Activity pops up!
