Jango, a relatively new brand of bicycle by Topeak, introduced the FLIK “multi-mobility folding bike this year at Interbike.  Taking cues from its non-folding brethren, the FLIK can be designed to accommodate its user with a wide variety of accessories for commuting, riding or just cruising around.

The FLIK has hydroformed tubes and a unique folding pattern that gives additional use as a rolling storage unit when you have a rear rack attached.  This isn’t a claimed feature, but the staged folding image after the break shows what we mean.  In reality, the second folding stage is intended for quick shuttling of the bike onto a train, subway, elevator or office without completely folding it and having to carry it.

Check it out along with details of all five FLIK models after the break…

The FLIK can go from full bike to fully folded in as little as six seconds.  The middle stage is the “shuttling” stage, which makes it easy to move the bike around between (and into and out of) stops.

The FLIK comes standard with eight speeds and Ergon grips, with options coming in the form of aftermarket accessories for the following five models:

– T handlebar, 8 speed twist shifter, rigid fork, V brake.

I rode the Flik folding bike at Interbike. Mercedes Benz licensed the design, putting their logo on one and selling it through their dealerships.

The Flik has a nice ride, folds quickly, rolls when folded and (unlike most folding bikes), optional accessories were never an after thought (remember, it’s made by Topeak).
