tsg-kraken-helmetJust got this hot off the “Bikerumor Tip Line” from TSG:

At this year’s Eurobike and Interbike trade show, TSG present a world’s first, the Kraken helmet. Thanks to the new Kraken Flex Tech system, this helmet automatically adapts to the head shape of its wearer, with the helmet’s inner shell hugging the head like an octopus. This is achieved through segmented EPS parts connected via thermoplastic joints and a hybrid nylon chassis. In case of an impact, the chassis keeps the EPS parts together while allowing for enough flexibility to adjust itself to the individual head shape of any wearer. Unlike monoblock EPS helmets (with a shell large enough to fit many different head sizes and shapes), the Kraken helmet offers reliable protection as well as an extremely compact size. The Kraken Flex Tech system provides enhanced all-round protection due to a superior fit with improved wearing comfort.

Another highlight characteristic of the system is the superior ventilation. Heat travels up the vertical air channels between the EPS zones and is drawn out of the helmet shell through Active Shell Venting. Fresh air enters the helmet via 14 aerodynamic vents.

The Kraken also impresses with the established TSG Low Fit, a lower-fitting helmet shell to cover and protect the head’s sides as well. Each item comes with two sets of interior padding of different sizes. The helmet weighs 453 grams and complies with EN1078 and CPSC safety standards. Available from spring 2010.
