Apparently ignoring the UCI’s new rule not to disclose team changes until September 1,  Portuguese rider Sergio Paulinho (above, right) has signed a 2-year contract to ride for Lance Armstrong’s new Radio Shack team in 2010 and 2011.

Paulinho, who was the 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist and has been a strong support rider for Alberto Contador, made the move to secure his future with a team, not wanting to wait around to see where Contador ended up and potentially be left hanging.

Joining him in the move to the new American team is former pro rider Jose Azevedo, who will be the teams Sports Director.

“It’s true. I have an offer and I’ve accepted,” Azevedo said. “All the details need to be worked out, but it’s confirmed. I am looking forward to working with Armstrong again. We always got along and this is an opportunity to do something I’ve always dreamed of.”
