PRESS RELEASE: Gruppo Bici N.A. announces today the release of the 2010 Umberto Dei catalog including bicycle accessories and new models Clodia, Regale Aurea and Salaria.

The Umberto Dei Clodia (above) is DEI’s top-line, modern city commuter bicycle with Shimano Alfine group and wheelsets, disc brakes and suspended fork. The Umberto Dei Salaria (at bottom, after break), also a transportation bicycle, features Shimano Deore LX components, 27-speeds, cantilever brakes and rigid fork. Both Umberto Dei Clodia and Salaria frames are made of Columbus aluminum tubing and have polished joins for a smooth, clean finish.

“Because the component groups on Clodia and Salaria not in-line with our commitment to offering exclusively Italian cycling products, we are exploring the opportunity to eventually offer these bicycles with Campagnolo components in North America,” says Gruppo Bici N.A. company spokeswoman D’Abria Versace. Gruppo Bici N.A. is also evaluating the sale of Clodia and Salaria framesets only based on Independent Bicycle Dealer demand.

The Umberto Dei Regale Aurea (Men’s above, Women’s below) is a vintage-style Italian city bicycle that fits between the Imperiale and Regale Lusso models. “The points of differentiation on the Regale Aurea are subtle,” D’Abria Versace says. “The Aurea blends components and features from both Imperiale and Regale Lusso in creating a bicycle that complements the Umberto Dei range of timeless, vintage-style Italian city bicycles”.

Since the beginning of the 20th Century accessories were considered upgrades to early DEI bicycles including such items as bells, brakes, chains, fenders, freewheels, grips, handlebars, saddles tires and tubes. Today, Umberto Dei accessories include: bell, fender skirts, frame pump, leather grips, saddlebags, saddles, seat bags and trouser straps; all leather products are available in either black or honey brown.

“We are very excited to announce the reintroduction of softgoods by Umberto Dei,” says spokeswoman Versace. “The accessories will enable us to better respond to current DEI owners wishing to enhance their existing bicycles as well as to offer IBD’s promotions with new bicycle sales”.

I have my Fathers Bicycle that was brought to the USA from Italy in 1947. I am 72 yrs. old and it is still in good condition. It has the stamp on the front that says DEI. The pedals shaft is stamped U. DEI & C Milano. The handle bars stamped Ambrosia Super LU550. I don’t know it’s worth today. The frame has the original paint, black with green and red running through it. On the frame is the number stamped in 3017. If someone out there knows something about this Bicycle and it’s worth please contact me at my Email. Thank You, Tony Valitutto tonyv501@hotmail.com
