timberline four seasons resort in west virginia wv opens downhill mountain bike courses with dual slalom pump track and lift service plus cross country xc trails

Timberline Four Seasons Resort, home of many past mountain bike events, is putting forth a renewed effort to bring the mountain biking back.  With fully reconstructed downhill trails, dual slalom, a pump track built to to the specs of Pump Track Nation and lift service.

The Huntington News has the full story, but Timberline’s website has virtually nothing on their website about mountain biking yet…and none of the events mentioned in the news story are on their event calendar yet.  Their summer activities press release did have this encouraging bit, though:

Timberline will open over 3,500 vertical feet of expert level downhill riding. Several hundred acres of open riding areas include 40 foot natural wall rides, bermed downhill logging roads, a downhill single track, a downhill double track, and drops and glade tree runs offering dozens of fine choices.

(Opening weekend) May 31st and June 1st, 2008 Timberline Four Season Resort will host an invitational weekend of riding. Members of Mid- Atlantic race organizations, professional riders, clubs, shop owners/employees, and locals are all invited to attend. Sixty participants are expected. The format of the event will feature a variety of attractions. There will be guided sessions at 10 and 2 o’clock led by the people who built Timberline’s system of trails and riding areas. J. R. Nolan, who is in charge of the mountain biking operation, believes that this will be, “…a unique opportunity and the best way to discover the wealth of riding that is Timberline.” Nolan adds that the allure of the biking terrain is evident, “…based on the successful past events held at Timberline.”
