BIKERUMOR.com 2009 SEA OTTER CLASSIC COVERAGE: Specialized Global Marketing stud Nic Sims gave us the run down on the upcoming 2010 Specialized 29er mountain bikes.

The new models are an Epic and carbon Hardtail, and both will feature an exclusive carbon-crown/steer tube fork that’s part Specialized, part RockShox.  It’s got a RockShox Reba lower and internals with a Specialized tapered carbon crown and steerer tube like they have on their house brand fork for the FSR.  They claim it’s the stiffest, lightest 29er fork on the market.

These are still “prototypes” in the sense that the final spec isn’t done.  They’re waiting on SRAM’s XX drivetrain, which will adorn the Marathon level Epic and the S-Works hardtail.  Lower level specs are TBD, as is pricing.

Enjoy the Hi Def video, then hit “more” for close up photos of both Ned Overend’s race rig and what will be the stock version (black frame)…

NOTE: Photos and specs on the S-Works hardtail will be in the next post.

Wonder if/when any of that good stuff will hit Europe. Would love to get my hands on the SS version of the hardtail. Thanks for sharing.
