Lightweight Edelhelfer 18-gram Carbon Water Bottle Cage

Lightweight EdelHelfer carbon fiber water bottle cage

The Lightweight Edelhelfer (German for “Precious Helper”) water bottle cage tips the scales at a claimed 18 grams.

The crisscrossed retention loops mimic the carbon spokes on Lightweights’ wheels. It comes with two small alloy screws to hold the “Reserve Tank”, as they’re calling it, to your bike. Now, matching your handlebar tape, tires and kit will no longer suffice for a complete look. Your cage must match your wheels.

UPDATE: Price is around 65€, which may vary slightly depending on VAT and shipping.

New Zipp SL Speed Carbon & Alumina Bottle Cages

zipp sl speed carbon and alumina alloy water bottle cages

Heck, if Lightweight can do it (here and here), so can Zipp. Now, those with somewhat limited budgets can also enjoy matching wheels, bars and bottle cages.

Their new SL Speed carbon and Alumina alloy water bottle cages are designed for equally easy side and front bottle entry without giving up any security. The arms on both flex to make angled entry easier, and Zipp says they work just as well on the downtube as on the seat tube.

Retail is $35 for alloy, $75 for carbon, with weights of 28g and 17g respectively (without bolts). Available in August. Click past the break for alternate views…

Stuff of the TSEpic: PRO’s Tenacious, Lightweight UD Carbon Bottle Cage

SONY DSCAt its most basic, the job of a bottle cage is a simple one:  to hold a water bottle.  Simple, yes- easy, no.  Sure, there are $10 aluminum models out there that’ll generally do the trick (and stainless or Ti models that will do the trick more.. trick-ly).  But–judging by what we see on the road and trail–what riders really want is a bottle cage that holds bottles, weighs next to nothing, doesn’t mar bottles, and looks good.  Add in those criteria, and the job gets a bit tougher.  Is the UD Carbon bottle cage from Shimano’s PRO accessory brand up to the task?  You know where to find out!

Lightweight Introduces Rennbugel, a 168g Carbon Fiber Road Bike Handlebar

Lightweight Rennbugel carbon fiber handlebar

The new Lightweight Rennbügel handlebar joins the recent carbon water bottle cage and accompanying bidon in their expanding, non-wheel lineup.

The Rennbügel has a nicely shaped drop but maintains the classic round tube profile, mixing old style with newer ergonomics. They say it’s stiff enough to point you where you want to go but built to damp vibrations. Hi-mod UD carbon fiber construction puts the claimed weight at just 168g for the 42cm width.
